I created The Tack Alchemist out of my own necessity searching for quality high end used tack while competing on the "A" H/J Circuit in Northern California. When I lost my ability to ride and compete, I desperately needed a way to stay connected to the equestrian scene that had been my world almost my entire life. I discovered how meditative and therapeutic it was to take older, dirty, tired, listless leather goods and restore them to their intended function, and thus, The Tack Alchemist was created.
I make it a priority that each piece of tack that comes through the doors be scanned for flaws or possible malfunctions, and is carefully taken apart and cleaned, nourished, oiled, conditioned, and repaired for optimal use, so that you know you're receiving safe, quality goods at an affordable price to boot!
And for the gentle pleasure riders, we've got you too. Your tack and its safety and integrity is simply as important as those competing at the highest level, you will find your tack needs met here as well.
I hope you enjoy the tack that is provided at The Tack Alchemist and know that it is restored with fondness and care, with an astute attention to detail to make sure we provide the quality standard that I myself would consider appropriate for show ready and secure honest pieces.
You're not just buying used tack, you're buying tack that has been meticulously cared for and repaired ensuring its safety and integrity. Thank you for considering The Tack Alchemist!

Owner/Founder
For someone who has been by my side at nearly every lesson and every horse show I’ve competed in, it’s no surprise that my incredible mom, Heather Robertson, is a valued member of the team at The Tack Alchemist. Her skills are essential to the store, particularly in finance, marketing, and her expert ability to carefully pack and ship items—so that when you receive your order, it feels like Christmas! As a small business owner herself, she has been a steady guide throughout this journey, all while allowing me the space to shape its direction.
From the days when I would quiz her on saddle parts and teach her how to take bridles apart and put them back together, to testing her knowledge on horse colors and breeds, her equine expertise grew at rapid fire. Her genuine curiosity about my equestrian activities—whether it was attending vet appointments, holding for the farrier, or scribing for dressage judges—helped her develop a deep understanding of the equine world. Her trained knowledge of high-end tack and equipment makes her an invaluable resource in buying, selling, and ensuring everything arrives safely to you.
Though she hasn't spent much time in the tack itself, her experience as a certified horse show mom, master stall cleaner, and quick-thinking problem solver in emergency situations—like hand-walking rescue horses through HYPP attacks—demonstrates her indispensable contributions. Her true passion for my equestrian pursuits makes her the most important team member I could ever ask for.
